My Grandmother, Violet Cambell was born on 26 Dec 1904 at 52 Andrew Street, Sheffield. She was the first of nine children born to Arthur and Isobel Mary Cambell. She was christened on 11 Jan 1905 at Holy Trinity Church in Sheffield. On 26 Dec 1929 she married Sydney Colley at Holy Trinity Church. Her address at this time was 52 Andrew Street. Sydney and Violet had five children, Eric, Edith (b.1931 - d.1943), Irene (b.1933 - d.2001) and twins Allan and Colin.
Violet was the Secretary and a founder member of the 'Sheffield Ladies Darts League'. Her team, the 'Norfolk Arms' (on Greystock Street, off Saville Street), won several medals and cups in the the mid 1950's. From 1936 to 1968 she ran their newsagents shop on Sutherland Street until the shop was demolished by a lorry and the family were forced to moved to a new home, in Gleadless. She died at home on 23 Dec 2000, three days short of her 96th birthday.
My Great Grandfather, Arthur Cambell, arrived on 16 Dec 1882 in Sheffield, the fifth of nine children born to John and Annie Cambell.
