Sydney Colley 1931 My Grandfather Sydney was born on December 17th 1901 at 53 Ball Street, Sheffield. He was the second of seven children born to Harry and Edith Annie (nee Armitage) Colley.
The 1911 cenus shows them living at 170 Marcus Street, Sheffield. How long they lived there is unknown but by 1915 they had moved to 52 Eldon Street, Sheffield..
His father, Harry, was killed in battle
in Belgium on 12th July 1915, when Sid was 13.
Violet Colley 1931 Still at Eldon Street, on December 26th 1929, 28 year old Sydney married 25 year old Violet Cambell, one of nine children born to Arthur and Isobel Mary Cambell (nee Wright).
They had five
children, Eric, Edith (b.1931), Irene (b.1933) and twins Allan (my father)
and Colin. They lived at 119 Carlisle Street, until 1936.
